The issue is that she is not someone people enjoy working for or with. Therefore no coaches.
As a longtime MC parent I would like to correct the above statement as I know most of these coaches from our time there. And, for what it’s worth, almost all of these coaches have been at MC for several years. 2032 coach is a JV lacrosse coach at HC 2030C coach is the former Varsity coach at Whitman 2030M coach is the Varsity coach at HC Both 2029 coaches were high level D1 lacrosse players 2028 coach is a former SR lacrosse coach 2027 coach is club director 2026M coach is Varsity coach at HC 2026C coaches are a JV HS coach and former D1 player 2025M coach is former Varsity coach at Holy Cross 2025C coach was a Varsity Lax coach at 2 public schools in MoCo 2024 coaches were high level D1 athletes who coached at Pride before coming to MC
Sounds like a good resume of coaches across all age groups/teams. Question then is, why are these teams arguably the weakest in the DC area and by a large margin? If you were to rank the programs, you'd have Pride, Stars, BLC, Next Level, maybe even YJMA at this point ahead of MC Elite at most ages. Seems like a big downward trend.
Not sure that is fair. Reality is that there are probably too many teams for the amount of talent in the area. Clearly Pride and Stars are top at the middle school level and can't see anything changing here anytime soon just based on the resources those clubs have. The rest is hit or miss by age group. Historically MCE would get some of the top Next Level girls because Next Level didn't play in big tourneys, but they have stepped up their game here which will hurt. BLC is really only competitive at 2 age groups -- 27 and 30. The rest of them are really rec level. MCE's 25s and 26s are actually somewhat competitive. Long term could see them competing against Stars and Pride for girls who can't make Capital
MCE is in major decline mostly because of their tone-deaf owner who refuses to listen to parents and not because they don't compete for the girls from Pride, Bethesda, and or NL they actually did that with either the 24s or 25s from pride but then they all left after a year. They have a major problem with talent retention due to all those FORMER coaches who they claim to be the top coaches in the area. My question would be if those coaches are the top of the top as the club claims why are most of them former and not current HS coaches? that being said two of them are really good the 2030M and the 2028 the rest are average at best and would be lucky to be able to coach a B team at any other club.
Whoever posted this, does your DD's school principal/teacher listen to exactly what the parents want, or do you trust their expertise? There are plenty of families who have come through the door and knew exactly what they were getting, so stop ripping on another human who has helped a ton of top athletes. The #34th ranked player from Inside Lacrosse in this year's freshmen class/Michigan is an MCE alum. What did this family know? I have a college athlete who went through the program, we had options. What did the families of the current top HS and college athletes know, and all those before them? Retention does not have to be an issue, HS coaches are allowed to change professions, but the expertise is there. The metric of success is not MS scores it is being an impact player in HS and beyond. MCE is not going to change its approach to look like NL or BLC, there is a market differential for a reason. The top athletes at BLC and NL should be the ones looking for a higher level, and a club that will personally care about their high school and recruiting trajectory. I wish the hate would stop, there is a place for every level of player.
You mean RC who goes to Vissi and plays for Capital that just proves the point that the club cannot retain talent in house. She left for a better club and now MCE wants to claim credit for her getting recruited to Michigan what a joke. She got that offer because she plays with Capital not because when she was younger she played for MCE.
No current freshmen in college, who played MCE in HS. Instead of saying what a joke and trying to stir the pot, do your homework.
You are clueless. Look at their website list of current freshman playing in college…(including the one at Michigan who was always at MC): Goldie Aronson (Bullis), Brown University Betty Boatwright (Georgetown Visitation), Washington & Lee Keelin Byrne (Langley), University of Louisville Julia Daly (Langley), Gettysburg College Jailin Jenkins (Bullis), United States Naval Academy Paige Kenny (Stone Ridge), University of New Hampshire Spencer Kirsch (Bullis), Kenyon College Katie Maloney (St. John’s), Drexel University Ellie Muldoon (Stone Ridge), Denison University Megan Myers (Georgetown Visitation), University of Denver Grace Nemeroff (Whitman), Brown University Grayson O’Marra (Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Denison University Lizzie Rosenman (GDS), University of St Andrews, Scotland Peyton Shreves (Holy Child), University of Michigan Sydney Tepper (Holy Child), United States Naval Academy
