What do you think he will be doing in September vs June?
I think you meant August…that’s when we send our kids off to college…several hours/states away. I’m a MoCo native who went to Beach Week starting junior year. It’s a rite a passage. You either trust your kid or you don’t. You can’t helicopter forever. Sending them to beach week with kids you know staying in a house owned by someone you know is as safe as it gets once they launch.
Not all of us grew up around here, so it doesn't have to be a "rite of passage".
DP.. sure. If you don't want your kid to go, don't let them go. I didn't grow up around here, but my kids are. Prom is also a rite of passage in the US, and we all know about those after prom parties where drugs, alcohol and sex occur. Did you go to Prom?
I must have been a "good kid" then. I went to prom and the school-organized post-prom and that's it. Didn't touch drugs or alcohol, nor did most of my peers. Not saying some kids didn't do it, but me and my friends were not some anomaly either.
