I am an independent in Florida and I was up in the air whether I would vote for DeSantis until recently. He has done well with economic policies and for a Republican he has done well with the environment. Although I am prochoice, that is not an issue I would choose a candidate for as long as abortion is available in other states. Although I have been super left most of my life, the current PC policies of Democrats, along with both parties just supporting different corporations have made me a skeptic. I do always vote every election. The deciding issue why I won't vote for DeSantis? He wants to pass permitless open carry of guns. That is a policy that could potentially effect my day to day life.
So you are ok with a teen from Southern FL who was raped by their neighbor having to marshall the money and support to travel to probably Maryland to get an abortion. That's ok with you?
Why would they need to leave the state of florida? Abortion is legal up to 15 weeks and 6 days in Florida.
Cuz teens who are raped and teens in general often don’t know what is happening with their bodies or are afraid or ashamed to admit it. Lots of reasons. Would you have a mother of 2 who has a nonviable fetus leave her family to travel to Maryland to have an abortion? You’re not pro life, you are pro you.
Right. But the number of teens who are raped AND get pregnant AND don’t find out until after 15 weeks AND want to abort is incredibly small. This is why most people are more concerned with the economy.
This. I'm adamantly pro-choice, but this economy is really harming my family. Worst case scenario, I could pay to take my kid to somewhere for a late-term abortion on the minuscule chance it's ever needed.
