Two months later and I'm still in pain. Finally got a visit with the GI. I got a fecal tests and yet more blood tests (because bilirubin is high) as a precaution but GI said that with a clear CT scan, it's not likely to be anything and doesn't want to do a colonoscopy. Gi put me on 1800mg of Advil per day meanwhile to deal with the pain at least. I'm grateful for that -- I haven't been sleeping in months but didn't want to take anything before talking to the GI. Gi thinks it's just an inflammation because CT scan was clear and Advil will resolve it if it is that simple so after 2 months of pain, bloating, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, and worrying, I should have just taken Advil. That's a lesson. If Advil doesn't resolve it, GI is going to do a follow-up visit but said that I'm likely to end up with a colonoscopy.
Forgive me if it’s been asked in the long thread but have you gotten a full autoimmune panel done for bloodwork? This much inflammation would likely show up on those panels and depending on other factors may point to autoimmune or auto inflammatory causes
OP here. So I think there is inflammation -- that's why the bilirubin results are abnormal. At least that's what GI said. Fecal blood test came back positive. Of course I was at work all day Friday and got the message after the GI closed. Advil did help with the pain but it made me even more nauseous so I only took a few days and had to stop. The pain is worse than ever. It's now been 3 months and no answers. With positive fecal blood test, tho, GI wants to do the colonoscopy (according to message). I couldn't schedule it so I will do that Monday. I'm hoping for some answers soon. It's going to feel like a long time until Monday with these test results. Obviously IBS or Crohn's is the most likely. I'm scared it's something worse. I've been trying to stay calm but I didn't sleep at all last night. Any tips on waiting for final diagnosis and staying calm are welcome.
