FL had a boom during the pandemic, take a guess why.  Take a guess why tax free red states like FL and TX had an influx of overtaxed citizens of NY and CA whose states had the strictest Covid restrictions and mandates and most radical social/equity justice reforms.  This isn't even about republicans migrating or those who used to be democrats switching their political leaning.  It's probably more about opportunism, finally saving on state taxes and RE prices (when you come from most expensive places in the USA)  started to make sense with remote work, and unfavorable changes to QOL brought on by their states local Covid policies and going a bit too far to the left in other aspects had pushed them to make that move for greener pastures. Child deaths more than doubled when the kids went back in 2021. Cold comfort for the parents of those kids who died.  I think return to school would've been fine if Desantis also tried to overrule school districts mask requirement. Even in R leaning districts, they wanted kids to wear masks.

Hint: catchy headline by DC outlet to attack DeSantis does not remotely represent reality, either at that moment in time or, more importantly, for the year as a whole.

Send me a CDC paper that shows that FL kids have done worse thru the pandemic. You won't, because they haven't.

If DeSantis had beed half as bad as you think he was, a) there'd be thousands of hidden, buried corpses somewhere and b) FL wouldn't have received close to a million folks primarily from the NE and from CA.
