Every family will navigate this in their own way - it is all okay. We are a hands off family - that worked. DS roommate was a very hands on family - that worked also. And we became friends!.And appreciated each other. So long as your child feels supported, however that looks to them, they will be fine.
First time in a few weeks: We arrive the day before drop off. DH hasn't yet seen campus, so DC will probably take us on a tour. We will all eat dinner together. We will help DC move in the next day. We are able to stay later, but will take our cues from DC. He will want us to leave but also stay forever. Fingers crossed that it goes as best as possible and that he will be resilient if/when there may be tough times. GL to all!
GL to you! For most of us, there is a full spectrum of emotions all at the same time - pride, sadness, nostalgia, joy and even relief - taking your cues from kid is a good plan
