If I were going back this August I'd probably look for some simple sundresses (it's so hot and humid there) and limit the pants because it's really hot for pants, and forget the shorts completely because they aren't really worn over there by anyone except American tourists.  Flowy, light sundresses and similar are more the norm, usually with some light accessories that dress it up a little, like a metallic sandal or a pretty bag.
