I met Hans and he's a decent politician, has my vote.
His former Chief of Staff is supporting Blair.
Add that to the fact that none of his colleagues support him and this guy has so many red flags. When the people that know you best won’t support you that’s a problem. When your colleagues have so little faith in your leadership that they are willing to speak out publicly against you like Navarro did in the Post that is a problem and it shows that they don’t even believe that Riemer has a political future in this county or state. I suspect after he loses and tries to run again there will be stories. Folks are being polite now but I doubt they will feel similarly generous in the future.
Good point. Why isn't Jawando supporting him? They have been partners on a lot of legislation. Has Riemer endorsed Jawando?
Because Jawando is not a supply sider and thinks Riemer’s developer subsidies are wasteful. Riemer jumped on some of Jawando’s issue because it’s where Riemer thought the party was heading. I don’t think Riemer believes any of the positions except the supply side economics.
Riemer tried to coattail Jawando a little bit because he thought it would help him appeal to Black voters. It didn’t work and his jump into defund proved to be a liability. Riemer spends too much time on Twitter which explains a lot about him.
This is amusing -- probably true but amusing -- the loudest, most rabid defund-the-police people in the county are actually middle aged white women. Both Jawando and Riemer are beholden to them.
This is true. But Riemer, who despite his family, has totally ignored the Black community in this county for the last decade, suddenly (and from my perspective cynically) started doing a bunch of stuff that would seem to appeal to Black folk only when he decided to run for CR and he made sure to do none of it without cameras present. This would include requesting an investigation into the 1986 death of Keith Warren and the ball field Emory Grove. When you consider the years he had to do anything about those two things and he chooses to only care when he’s running for CE says a lot about the person that he is.
