Schools are scrambling to use Covid funds, as it’s a lot of temporarily available money. The challenge is that the money will not be there in a few years. Maybe the central admin thought getting bocce equipment is a good use of funds because they’d be start up costs as opposed to something they’d need to sustain. That doesn’t mean it’s the best use, but that might be the reasoning.
They will need to sustain bocce ball. How about upgrading the schools with better ventilation, fixing roofs, windows, doors, hallways, extra cleanings? How about more reading specialists, speech therapists, OT's, etc? How about more funding for virtual academy so they can have an equal experience and offer it to more families? How about more mental health therapists since parents and MCPS are screaming how bad covid was to their kids mental health?
My kids enjoyed the unit on bocce so I think it was money well spent.
What grade are your kids in? My kids haven’t had bocce yet and they are in ES and MS.
Maybe the school already had a set. We haven't seen a set either.
My kids are in ES and MS and this is the first year they had bocce. This is to really enjoy it.
