OP here. I can’t believe so many places have picked up this story and that there are almost 100k views on Redfin now. I guess even notoriety is good if it drives traffic. That’s a sad situation and a bit of a moral dilemma. What if the kids had abandoned the old man and the housekeeper was the only one caring  for him with the promise that she could stay? I think the kids should at least pay her something for taking care of their father and moving out. [/quote]

In what way do they sound "awful"?  In the quote  below from earlier in the thread,  It sounds like someone who has led the owner to believe they are a housekeeper has basically invited herself along with her child and a dog to move in rent free. The kids want to sell the house, they aren't obligated to keep or help out the "housekeeper", who seems to leave trash all over the place.

There's nothing indicating the kids have abandoned the father, they just don't want to carry the house!

You have no idea about their family situation- neither do I. It is not appropriate to harshly judge and speculate about their life when you know nothing. [/quote]
