95% of the people in that store appear to be masked. Youngkin did not read the room.
+1. I draw a big distinction with masks between essential services and “nice to do”. Indoor dining, you take the risk and pay the price, if there is one. Ditto gyms, concerts, movie theaters, Top Golf, nail salons, etc. You can choose to patronize or not based on your comfort level with their mitigation. But everyone should be able to go to doctors offices, pharmacies and grocery stores safely. Even with an unvaxxed two year old. Even if you are immunocompromised. Even if you are 85 with CPOD. Because Instacart isn’t free and some people are on a tight budget. And everyone needs to eat. So, I do think everyone should mask up when they visit essential services, to keep them accessible for everyone, even very high risk. Youngkin is an a@@hole because there was probably a mom with kids too young to mask or vaxx, some one immunocompromised , someone very old with lots of conditions. And they need groceries too. The level of disregard is gross. I’d feel different if he were unmasked at a Caps game. You can se the rules before you go, decide if you are comfortable with them, and if not, stay home. In related news, he needs to wear a mask at pharmacies, doctors offices and in some places with essential government services, like SSA offices
FFS.... there is NO mask mandate in Alexandria and this store had NO mask mandate. Interesting that you are making up your own rules based on your criteria. If you want to wear a mask.... wear one. If your kid is immunocompromised.... put a mask on your kid or don't take him/her out to public places. There is no rule or law or mandate to wear a mask in this store. And, many of those who were wearing masks were wearing cloth masks which even the CDC is pretty much worthless. This is the absolutely most stupid "scandal" to have lasted 4+ days when we have politicians around the country who IMPOSE mask mandates then go out in public and ignore their own mandates. THOSE are the real scandals.
