Hospitals are strained right now. I am not afraid of what will happen to my immediate family. I'll be fine and so will my kids. But, my vaccinated and boosted grandmother just died from covid. Another unvaccinated relative who was younger (50) than her and healthy (she was not) also died from covid last month. These are horrible things. I can't make other people get vaccinated, but I can stop going to indoor restaurants and help reduce the spread. So that's what we do. I know that going to restaurants and spreading covid (before I know I have it) literally kills people. So I just don't do that. And I don't think it's a big deal. We have lots of fun and still socialize, just outdoors or (like for the holidays) by testing first. It doesn't eliminate all risks, but I feel like it's a good balance for us.

I can't tell whether you're sincere in your question or trolling. Clearly some people are trolling on here and don't actually want a real discussion. But, if you're sincere, I think a lot of the stress, as OP literally pointed out, is in covid protocols for younger kids.

Like, maybe not going to an indoor restaurant isn't a big deal for a lot of us, but preschool and daycare shutdowns are a REALLY big deal. Changes in those protocols would be helpful for many parents. Do you not have a preschooler? Have you not been affected by this? Dealing with a shutdown, scheduling time for a test, trying to make sure my kid isn't the one who shuts down preschool, etc... It's a lot. It's way more stressful than getting takeout instead of dining indoors.
