What's funny is that the people I know who are having problems getting their RealID in VA are republican. It might not work out how conservatives are expecting. It can take a lot of time and effort (and sometimes money, those birth certificates aren't free) to get that much documentation, especially if you are older.
You seem new to the concept of RealID. Many of us have already gotten ours. It’s funny that you’re making out an irritating experience to be some kind of insurmountable challenge. It’s not. And RealIDs aren’t even required.
I have a realID but it really was a terrible process. I’m okay with making state IDs a requirement for voting if assistance is provided to help people obtain them and then after receiving one, never requiring that person to visit the DMV for renewal. I’ve never visited anyone to renew my passport but every eight years I have to spend hours at the DMV. Why is a obtaining a state ID more time consuming than a passport?
Adding that my preference is to use mail in ballots for all elections like Oregon and other states. Mail ballots six weeks before election and allow them to be returned to drop boxes. Voting should be easy.
