I think it's mostly Covid theater but if it calms people's nerves, so be it.
Why is it theater to test kids before they return? Frankly, we should test every morning before we send kids to school, like they do in the UK.
I think some people think it is theater because they want zero risk, and this protocol (or any protocol, or anything) will provide it.
Ok. I am decidedly not in that camp. Zero risk is sitting in your house and having no contact with the outside world. Daily testing plus masking and outdoor eating all seem like reasonable measures to take.
But it isn’t theater, post above says family discovered their child was positive and keeping him/her home. They can also monitor themselves and test. Reducing spread is good and will help end this faster!
I agree that reducing spread may be good for continued school operation, but how will it end this faster? Assuming Omicron will eventually have to infect almost every child for spread to stop, reducing spread will draw out the process.
In simple terms: If contagious people isolate and stop spreading it, the virus will not live on.
Oh, so you are one of those who still believe that this virus can be eliminated. You need to come to terms with reality.
I’m immunocompromised so I need to cling to hope instead of excepting I will die. I know you DGAF about me but whatever heartless b****
Just because I am pointing out a reality that even Dr. Fauci has repeatedly acknowledged doesn't mean that I don't care about other people. I have immunocompromised family members myself, but I don't take comfort in wishful thinking. They have always had to take precautions, even before Covid. Please take your uncontrolled rage off the anonymous internet and find other outlets than throwing blind insults at people about whose predicaments you know nothing.
Please rethink your insensitivity and selfishness.
Please rethink your projection of insensitivity and selfishness on people about whom you know nothing except that they don't believe that Covid will be eliminated and that they have immunocompromised family members. Please explain how you think that makes someone selfish.
