We need a MULTILAYERED approach to get rid of this GD disease for good.  Vaccines/masks/limiting gatherings all decrease transmission but do not eliminate them entirely.  Vaccine passports serve two purposes - keeping people less likely to be safe out of public spaces, AND ALSO encouraging people to get vaccinated so they can go places.

Schools have had vaccine mandates FOREVER.  Why the F is this one different?  It's just adding one more to the list!

And while we're at it, while I hate folks who are active anti-vaxxers, we have NOT done enough to make vaccines accessible to those who need them most.  There is a HUGE gulf between active anti-vaxxers and folks who haven't been able to get one yet.  They should be available as walk-ins EVERYWHERE, no online-only booking systems, no forms if you don't want to.  There should be a county service you can call (not only book online) and someone will come to your house to vaccinate you if you are disabled.  Paid time off to get them, and paid time off for recovery if you have a bad reaction.  Shoot just effing pay people to get them!   These policies would drastically reduce disparities in vaccine rates among different racial groups and financial classes.   And if you scoff at these ideas and think "everybody has internet access/paid time off, it's already easy enough" wow do you need to look outside your effing bubble.

Or, you know, you can keep on believing that seat belts are good enough so you don't need to stop for lights any more.  Problem is, you risk the rest of us, too, when you do this.  [/quote]
