Large families with multiple wives only pertains to the ultra rich and or royal families of the Gulf Arab states. The majority of Gulf Arabs are normal. I grew up there. Please don’t spew your uninformed and xenophobic comments here. The ultra rich in America have a wife and several mistresses. Men like that even became our President. If you don’t know what you are talking about then please be silent. It’s better than spreading untruths about a culture and law you are not equipped to talk about. Divorce is not uncommon in the Middle East, especially in the cultures of the Arabian Peninsula. My friends liver with their mothers after their parents divorced. I’m not a proponent of polygamy but all sorts of relationships are legal now in the US. What’s the difference between polygamy and American’s that engage in extramarital affairs? Nice try changing the subject. The PP was walking about child custody. It's irrelevant that a handful of kids live with their moms at the mercy of their fathers. The difference is the legal right of the legal spouse. The AP have zero legal rights. And no, the only legal marriage in the US is between TWO and only TWO people. BTW, can gay people get married in the Middle East? And don't forget that women were not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia prior to 2018. They couldn't even vote prior to 2011. [/quote]

Saudi Arabia isn't the UAE.  No more so than Mexico being the same as the US.  Just bevcause they share geography, as the US/MExico and UAE/KSA do, does not mean the countries are similar.[/quote]

OK, so in the UAE:
Women can't vote, drive, own property, work, and get an education without approval from their guardian. 
A judge determines whether a married woman is permitted to leave the house and to work.
Men have the right to unilaterally divorce their wives, however a woman must apply for a court order to obtain a divorce.
Women must get permission from their male guardian to get married.
Until last year, there was no domestic violence law and women couldn't obtain restraining orders against abusers.
Male guardians are allowed to discipline (including physically) their wives, female relatives, and children, as long as the violence marks are not visible. 
Marital rape is not a crime.
Until last year, men were entitled to lighter sentences for killing a female relative if they found them in the act of extramarital sex. Until last year, it was legal for the murderer to get no punishment in exchange for payment to the killed woman aka "blood money"
Until last year, “honor” killing of women was punishable with a month in prison. 
Homosexuality is illegal in the UAE, and is punishable by death penalty.

Just like in the US, right?! All the crimes above are totally on par with a middle-age sex starved H who has a ONS on a business trip.
