If they are living in a shelter, the case manager should have been automatically signing the child up for Medicaid or CHIP. There are also lots of people in the school system that can make referrals to the appropriate social service agencies. We have numerous free and sliding scale clinics. We have emergency rooms that provide indigent care. If someone moves to a country where they don't know the system, they will need to ask for help, just like I might if I got sick in Guatemala.[/quote]
