Use of profanity by a player is a red card offense (Rule 12). This enforcement is mediated by the content of the profanity and the purpose or cause for the profanity. A player gets hurt and yells “Fxxx”. Not really going to result in a red. Player gets into it with an other player - yep. That will be a red.
Wrong! Use of profanity is not a red card. LAW 12! No where in the laws do they even mention the word profanity. What is a red card is offensive, abusive, or insulting language and/or actions. A kid making a mistake and saying F is not a red card. A kid calling another player a slur is.
You just restated the other post. What do you think profane language is other than “offensive”? Will it’s use always result in a red card? Nope. The other post is correct. It could result in a red card, but officials will consider the context. A kid using a swear word while lying on the ground with a broken bone - not going to be a problem. A kid squaring off against another using a series of f bombs - yep that’s a red.
The poster wrote..."Use of profanity by a player is a red card offense (Rule 12)." That's not true. Then the poster gets it straightened out for the most part. Your post is accurate it. It's up to the ref to decide what language is offensive.
