They just posted that resulted will be up by 11 pm on Friday and also that they are limiting casting in some roles this year so not everyone will get a part. I wonder if any one knows any details on the restrictions they are putting into place re casting and what that means re total kids cast. I assume they may be looking to scale down some of the parts for the younger kids but just speculation.
I'm not at WB, but my DD goes to another ballet school and it's interesting to see how different companies are dealing with Nutcracker casting in the time of Covid. I know at ours, they went older and double cast roles (I suppose so there would be fewer kids backstage and they can social distance better?).
Also at another ballet school and I was comparing the casting list from 2019 and 2021, seems like there are fewer kids overall (with some dancing more roles) but I don't know if that's the studio limiting numbers, or if some families were more hesitant to sign up for the Nutcracker this year due to COVID. There were some earlier posts in this thread (I think) from folks who were skipping this year due to virus concerns.
True, I can see some families thinking they don't want to deal with the worry about exposure and the SD and potential quarantines and deciding "pass." At ours, I think most kids were looking forward to getting onstage after having missed last year. Lot of disappointed kids who were not cast because they weren't old enough.
