I'm not big on conspiracy theories either, but try starting a thread on how private school admissions directors make their admissions decisions. Then check out the range of answers before you decide that no admissions directors ever visit DCUM.
Look, I don't disagree that probably sometimes school personnel, whether teachers, administrators, Admissions Director, etc, both read and post on DCUM. They live in the internet age too, and I'm sure sometimes do the equivalent of googling their own name but on an institutional level -- googling their own school. What is irritating, however, is that when a thread arises with intense criticism of a school, there are those who dismiss every post with a contrary, positive view as being a product of "school admin." It's a way of trying to cut off any kind of reasoned debate . . . for example, whether college matriculations of a given school that are less stellar than in the past are a sign of falling standards at the independent school or a major change in college admissions in general. My point of view in this is as a parent who is fairly well educated about the independent schools, having kids at some, college friends who teach at others, and many friends with kids at still other schools and/or who are on the boards of some of these schools. I also tend to be fairly sympathetic to the challenges of the schools/educators. I have posted on threads about more than one school, feeling like I have enough knowledge to contribute (and let's be honest, sometimes the bar isn't all that high for some of the discussions). And I'm sure some people have thought I'm an admin -- fair enough, it's an anonymous board! But for people to tag every positive post on a school as fake/propaganda/boosting is just illogical.
