Lorber also said during their work meeting last night that while she was surprised ACPS announced "6ft until the end of the year" decision over email, she totally supported that decision, because it would have been just so hard to do. For ACPS staff and teachers. I just wish for once ACPS would remember the reason they exist is to educate children, not to employ staff. Also interesting that the new narrative is that the "6 feet until the end of the year", in bold, in the ACPS express, was just a misunderstanding, mistake by the comms staff. And that it was never ACPSs intention to remain at 6 feet. And the entire board was like "oh, well, mistakes happen". I can't believe the complete lies they let Hutchings get away with.
That sounds like them. I watched last week's SB meeting and those SB members (with the exception of Gentry) were so mild in their statements to Hutchings and central office about this mess. I found it telling that a couple of members brought up at that meeting that they didn't know about the all virtual after spring break plan until ACPS announced it. They obviously didn't bring it up in real time. So now it's all just a big mistake? That happened twice? That got coverage in the Washington Post? If this happened in the private sector, people would have been fired. I was pro staying at 6 feet and staying virtual after spring break but looking at all of this evidence, ACPS is severely mismanaged. Why are Hutchings and central office treated with kid gloves?
