No Im not talking about U9 Are you kidding? U9!!! They are 8 year olds and you are uptight about CCL at 8 years old Get a life and realize your precious 8 year old is not the next Soccer star playing on the USWNT or USMNT I am laughing at your focus on U9 "next gen" No I was not talking about U9. Alex pulled out of a U9 league and you are up in arms about CCL scheduling. AS I SAID, my kid plays CCL in the girls division and no scheduling issues. Sorry for your U9 Next Gen kid, what a tragedy, a few missed games
Actually, the point is completely the opposite. Nobody cares about leagues or their stature at u9/10. The kids just need to play. Reality check: kids find games fun; 8 and 9 year olds like to play them; the point of soccer at that age is to enjoy the game. And we pay a lot of money. There are a gazillion teams in the DC area; there's no reason kids shouldn't be able to play a decent slate of games. So if NCSL has dozens of teams and 8 games; yes, it is a problem if 8 year olds in CCL get 4; and yes, kids ask questions and wonder why they don't have a game multiple weekends in a row. It has nothing to do with thinking your kid is a superstar. Play scrimmages or XYZ league ... who cares.
+1 I'm the old soccer parent who posted above, and I have absolutely no interest in bashing or promoting any particular league. All I can tell you having been through this for year is that in the early years, your kids just want to play soccer. Put them in a situation where they will have fun playing the game and learn to love it. If they have some skill, travel makes more sense than rec. However, if you wind up playing in a league that has only 3-4 games a season (as happened to my kids when they played in CCL years ago), then they might be better off playing rec. because they would be playing. No expensive travel club should be provided fewer playing opportunities than a rec. team.
