And to have this coming from the rapping community is another big step.  This is the kind of ballsy thing Kanye should/could have done if he hadn't gotten sidetracked by religion (!) and stopped taking his meds.

I'm glad you mentioned this letter, I hadn't understood it when I read it the first time.  I didn't know that Montero is actually his given name, and that he truly was writing to himself and not some prior boyfriend whose gayness he'd promised to keep secret.

The fact that he gave the song his own name, acted every single part in the video, essentially kissed himself ... that's lovely.  Good for him.  I just find it really moving to show self-acceptance like that when this issue has been such a sticking point in the rap world for so long.[/quote]
