YUP - teachers complained they didn't have childcare today so APS closed.. So many working mothers/families have been battling this for almost a year. The bias is unbelievable and I don't understand how APS gets away with this. Curious of what's happening with that lawsuit - anyone have any insight? [/quote]

Interesting are they most ES teachers?  DD 10 has 2 teachers both unmarried. DD 12 has 7 teachers and only one is a working mom. Others are empty nesters, men (both married with kids) or single women. Interesting to think about.  [/quote]

At our ES there is not a lot of working moms. However, if you look around the Arlington community, tons of working moms & dads, double-income is necessary given the cost of housing (that was supposed to be worth it due to the high-quality education, gasp).. this is in-part why everyone is fuming at another unnecessary day off of school. You know what?  I am a working teacher mom, paying the mortgage in Arlington, too.  In defense of single teachers- I have to tell you, I may be more experienced than I was when I started, but I never put so many hours in as I did when I was younger.  The teachers in Arlington are very good.  I think your anger at teachers because of a) a global pandemic and b) a snow day call you don’t like is very misguided.  It honestly seems that you’re upset that there are single teachers at home right now that don’t have kids to take care of.  They’re probably spending a good part of this day grading and planning, trust me.[/quote]
