Other draw back is the extreme weather it has as compared to other closer in counties. More storms and snow falls there. Toll road is no good in ice and snow especially if you work in DC, Tysons. It’s just too dam@ far out.
I had a nice women with kids working for me from Ashburn. It was a Ashburn to Bethesda commute. I told her we work from home in Friday’s. Ok to WFH if school closed due to snow and could work 8-4 to avoid traffic. Plus we got four weeks vacation and two weeks holidays So we are talking 46 weeks worth of four day workweeks. Over time she was late 815 to 845 but still left in time. Then became can I skip lunch and leave 345. Then us an issue at home take the day as even if had to wait for hvac guy was an issue. Wfh is fine but we have meetings in person she would flip last minute. Meaning she call two people to a conference room for a nine an meeting then dial in to her own in person meeting. The tolls and gas was huge. She lasted 12 months and apologized when she left. Meanwhile another guy lived same distance from work way out by Seneca which is past outer Potomac. But his drive was long but predictable with no tolls. Here was long but widely unpredictable with time of tolls. It also caused a bit of grief as she was highest paid mom in the entire dept and had the closer in moms picking up her slack. One connected why am I doing her work for less pay so she can live in a 7,000 square foot house while I live in a Rockville townhome
How is her being a mom or woman or the other person a man relevant to this?
In this case if you most know all three women with kids were Asian. All three had husbands who barely did any child care responsibilities. All three of there husbands focused on there jobs. Every snow day and bus drop off and sick kid wife got stuck with. All three were “off the boat” two even had to take care if their in-laws medical stuff as that is what good daughter in laws do. They were very overwhelmed
