I see a lot of talk in this thread about not liking this plan because we should wait for teachers to get vaccinated. I agree with that, but doesn't anyone want to wait for kids to also get vaccinated? Especially with the studies about this new form of the virus (that started in England and is wreaking havoc in Los Angeles right now) that affect kids at about the same rate as adults? The previous versions of the virus didn't seem to get caught by kids that much, but this new one is different. And I saw another study today about how the virus was enlarging vessels in the braina of people who had had it -- even if they didn't have life threatening symptoms and recovered, the vessels remained enlarged. I mean, not to be a chicken little or anything. But I'm not sure I'd want to send my kids back until they had vaccinations themselves.
I hear you but that won’t likely be until at least the end of this year. None have been approved for kids. Is anyone willing to let their kid be a test case? It’s tricky. I think we need to focus on air filtration, tents for outdoor Lunch/classrooms, etc. We are in this for a long haul. We need actionable plans to get more kids back safely.
