All summer long we put up with DC government sanctioned violence that targeted pharmacies and liquor stores in the name of justice. I can't stand the Proud Boys and support nothing about them but the hypocrisy in regard to the reaction to their march is a little over the top.
One of my most woke friends kept posting photos of the Statue of Liberty crying when the National Guard was called up this summer. I can't stand hooliganism period, but the lack of self -awareness of the left just makes me wonder.
Conservatives who believe in local government should recognize a meaningful difference between the mayor of DC calling up the DC National Guard, on the one hand, and the president calling up the National Guard of other states, against the wishes of the mayor of DC, to go into DC, on the other. Conservatives who believe in freedom and limited government should also recognize a meaningful difference between the DC National Guard, with identification on their uniforms, and unidentified goons in riot gear.
Were they not protecting Federal Property and monuments?
No. No, they weren't. No.
Yes, yes they were.
Protecting the Lincoln Memorial from people in shorts and T-shirts. That was so embarrassing. They even looked embarrassed, as far as you could tell with all of the body armor etc. https://twitter.com/MarthaRaddatz/status/1267972382590984195
I agree. Bowser should have called up the DC National Guard to protect downtown buildings from vandalism, businesses from looting, includings but not limited to liquor stores and CVS. Also eyeglass and every other kind of store. I don't care who was "behind it"-the businesses and property should have been well protected. I am glad there were some protecting federal properties. I'm sure they were embarrassed they couldn't spread out and do more due to resistance from city leaders. And I'm glad that Bowser has come to her senses and called up National Guard; she should do so for any potential for prolonged vandalism--not pick and choose sides.
