There is always room on a team for the right player, and to think otherwise is nonsense. I understand the conventional wisdom about 8th grade but a top player in their position has mobility at any time.
Yes and no. Once high school club teams are formed they generally play together throughout those years. Yes, players may be added as others decide to move on from club lacrosse or on a rare occasion switch high school club teams, but the makeup of these teams usually remains consistent. Definitely by the start of sophomore years changes are far less likely, even for top players. Players are more committed and further along in their recruitment process and clubs want to support these goals, not disrupt them. Players may be added, but more likely to replace those who have decided not to continue with club lacrosse, not because clubs are looking to add a superstar player this late in their high school programs. This is why the better clubs do not hold open tryouts past 9th grade. They fill in for the few openings they will have. These clubs are committed to the development of their own players and focused on their recruitment efforts.
