Larla can trace her ancestry well back into the fifteenth century owing to the indefatigable work decades ago of a second cousin twice removed who became a stalwart of the DAR. Despite her ancestral WASP bona fides, Larla never identified with that tribe owing to her cosmopolitan background living variously in Paris and third world outposts growing up and the strong strain of Irish Catholicism in her family culture.

When she landed from overseas at her Ivy, she was first introduced to the world of Top Siders, khakis, and LL Bean Norwegian sweaters but persisted in wearing her mother's hand me downs of fine knit skirts and dresses bought in Portugal, boiled wool jackets from Austria, Scottish cashmere, and French scarves because the whole preppy thing seemed so alien and just not her.

Post MBA, she eschewed business suits whenever possible in favor of dresses, usually silk, paired with cardigans that could pass as jackets and had to go out of her way to find these items that were work appropriate.  Scarves remained a staple accessory, together with leather belts and Ferragamos she would wear for years by keeping them in good repair.

One day she perused the Brooks Brothers site and discovered its collaboration with Zac Posen, a master at injecting prep sensibility with a cosmopolitan flair. This she could identify with! She is now hooked and single handedly trying to keep BB alive through the pandemic.[/quote]
