I agree direct play sometimes gets a bad rap.

But I think [b]99% of educated coaches would agree you’re supposed to prioritize development at younger ages, and that means NOT bypassing your midfield. [/b]At least not all the time - as an occasional change of pace, sure.

All that said, from what I saw of SYC a few years ago, I’d be surprised if they suddenly turned into a kick-and-run club. I saw Arlington do that at U-10 - the coach was really defensive when someone told him they were playing kickball. [/quote]

And depending on the timeframe you're talking about a few years ago SYC was under different management.[/quote]
