I understand a single mom. But no married woman should quit her job. I am married and will NOT be quitting. There is NO reason that woman should need to quit their jobs while men do not! Just say no, ladies. Is your husband going to quit his job to do housework and distance learning? Of course not. Women have to stop voluntarily sacrificing their careers and financial well-being when men do not.
As someone who earns a similar salary to my husband, I understand this reasoning. No way am I tanking my career when my husband would never even dream of quitting his. But for a variety of reasons, a lot of mothers have the lower wage/more flexible/sometimes part time job of the two working spouses. I can totally understand why someone in this position would quit. There are already lots of hurdles to being a dual income household and for many families it makes sense for the lower earning spouse to take over some duties that were historically outsourced. If we value mothers remaining in the workforce, then we need a better support system for working parents. This is a societal issue.
