Unfortunately, after putting all of their eggs into the DA basket, they've been burned. I think it's fair to say that FCV is known more for their girls sides. To that end, then anything other than the ECNL for their girls will not satisfy many families. If they take this DA shutdown as a lesson, it would be preposterous to join any new fly-by-night league that arises as a result of this. While EDP is an option, it's not the ECNL. Needless to say, at this particular moment, ECNL reigns supreme. ECNL is also moving to a regional league model and will probably be looking to accept new quality teams to expand. Will FCVs leadership suck it up, and ammend relations with the ECNL? OR will they follow their egos and offer their families a subpar NCSL/EDP solution and risk losing players to ECNL clubs? Will be very telling how this situation develops.
IMO (and what I don’t think other people grok) - it doesn’t matter what FCV does - they will not get an invite to join the ECNL. There are 4 other ECNL clubs in the area. Why would they want any new ECNL clubs (especially one that has a reputation for not playing nice with other clubs). The fewer ECNL clubs there are - the more talent there is for the (current) ECNL clubs.
