Many of the Alexandria players are claimed as other Clubs' 'own' when they leave at HS/teen age.  Quite a few ended up at DC United Academy too.  It's the classic develop players and other Clubs get them and claim them as their own.  The question is how many of those big clubs players started and developed at the home club throughout their childhood.  The answer is: very few.  Check out DA rosters in the later years.  [/quote]

Curious, is that an accident of geography? Whenever it’s discussed about where to send your kid, everyone seems to say go to the closest club when the kids are young. At what age does one get the development that pushes the kid to the next level? [/quote]
