8:53 here and I have a similar story, only I was 13.   Dad slapped me so hard my front left tooth broke in half.   It had a cap for a while but as an adult I had to have it replaced with a fake tooth.   It's pretty obvious when i smile too, since it's right in front.  And same with my parents being nervous about the medical/dental treatment and telling me to say that I got in a fight with my brother.   They were afraid of being reported to CPS. [/quote]

Female.   They (my parents) said it was justified because I was talking back.  They said they spoke to a counselor about it and told them what happened (specifically how I talked back) and the counselor told them that she would have smacked me too, if I talked back to her like that.   [/quote]
