Out of curiosity, what is it that you like so much about Whittier? We are also IB for Whittier but I wasn't able to make it to the open houses. I feel like it is a sure thing for us since they didn't have too many people on the waitlist for PK3 last year, so interested to hear your perspective since you were obviously impressed. We have heard a lot of neighbors say that they are/would be fine with having their kids there, but I haven't heard of anyone say it is their top choice.[/quote]

We felt the school was very warm and welcoming when we went to the open house, and we have friends who are very happy there and rave about how great the administration is-particularly the low staff turnover rate. DH and I also really liked the diverse nature of the student body and the community feel, wed like DS to feel like he’s in school with our neighbors. We are both DCPS graduates and would prefer to send our kid to a traditional (vs charter) public school for a number of reasons. Not knocking charters-I listed some too :) [/quote]
