US soccer can't stop a player trying out at another club, if Spirit is going to fall apart in VA then those players should find new clubs before spring season starts
That's what I'm saying: they can. Ask them. Per policy, you cannot try out at another DA club without the current DA club's permission. It's not allowed. Ask them.
And I’m saying that a club that is dissolving has no ground to stand upon trying to enforce a player retention rule. There is nothing to retain them for.
Sooo, last thoughts here: knowing this rule goes beyond what is going on with Spirit. Any player in the DA, thinking of being in the DA, thinking of changing DA clubs needs to know. It's the rules of the "game" so to speak by being in that league. I know it's tangential to the discussion, but I don't want to start a thread just for that. I really don't know at all what is going on with Spirit, and I am not suggesting that Spirit would enforce retention. However, in the nicest way I can, I do think people need to not be naive. Any time personalities are involved, they may do something illogical for irrational reasons, vindictive reasons and whatever other reason that grown adults may let these poor youth get caught in the crossfire. So, I am suggesting that any club may choose to withhold information or enforce whatever policy they choose. I've seen it done. So, just look out for your player, because I've seen players get hung out before - even when it makes no sense.
No dispute with any of that. There are risks but the procedure is pretty clear. And move in season in January would be tough to do but in regards to attending ID sessions one need only to inform their DA that they wish to attend another DA’s ID session.
