But if you need to feel superior, here ya go.  I live in a $600k home we paid $375k when we purchased.  I have nearly 18yrs of experience in my career field, and my husband has 16yrs in his.  We are very proficient in our respective fields, but we only earn $170k together.  My children go to public schools and will attend a public university.

Yet somehow I still feel very fortunate for our life.  Even if there are others living in more expensive homes, have higher salaries, or own nicer things. We are healthy, still married, and our children are healthy.  We have enough, and the last thing I concern myself with is a comparison to a situation that is none of my business.

Of all you mentioned, I would be most concerned about a housekeeper.  I have a housekeeper that comes biweekly.  She is a lifesaver and well worth every penny we pay her.
