The problem with your characterization is that it's wrong.

Whatever you may think about Republicans or Democrats, their end goal is actually very similar: maximize the happiness of all humans. The disagreement isn't on the goal, but how to get there. Republicans mostly see this and this is why the general feeling of Republicans towards Democrats is that the later is misinformed. Democrats somehow think that Republicans have different end goals, that instead of maximizing the happiness of all humans, Republicans are for oppression and suffering - and in this light it's easy to agree then that people working towards such goals are indeed evil. I've seen plenty of Republicans who think Democrats are evil.  Usually they call whatever Democrats want "socialism" or "Marxism" then tie that to repressive Stalinist or Maoist regimes.[/quote]
