OP. Just tear this down and do what you want. Perfect location and walkable to everything in Bethesda. https://www.redfin.com/MD/Chevy-Chase/4411-Elm-St-20815/home/10643437
Right next to the purple line?!?!?
That house is on a 10,000+ sq ft lot and is set back quite a bit from where the Purple Line will be. The Purple Line is a light rail system. The noise it generates is not on par with the Metro or commuter rail systems (VRE, MARC). The Purple Line will probably have some noise mitigation (barriers to muffle sound for instance) between it and this property. Even with no sound barriers, this is still a good deal because you are going to get your money back, plus interest, because of all the development the Purple Line is bringing forth in the surrounding area. You walk through a park to get to Wisconsin Avenue and downtown Bethesda from here and you are not finding lots this so close to downtown Bethesda at prices like this, let alone with houses that you could live in until you wanted to build. There's a reason this is a Hot Home and this will go fast.
