How does that word even make sense?  Sounds like he was encouraging parents not to worry as they dropped their kids off.  They would be fine at college.  He was not saying it to a group that was about to apply.[/quote]

Petulant is the exact word.  All of those synonyms fit IMHO.  No call for any negativity, accusation or insult at what should be a happy and bittersweet day.

I was not the person who posted it.  I am just surprised at the reactions as I don't see it as negative at all.  I also don't think it is wrong for a parent to give an essay a second read before it goes out.  [/quote]
