Hey guys, I don't participate in these forums often, and I'm getting a good sense of why. Risking going down a rabbit hole, I'm going to reply. Saying the delay seems inconsiderate is not the same thing as saying my kid's future is bleak if they don't get in, or saying I'm so stressed "my panties are in a bunch". I know it's hard to read tone via text, but I was simply expressing disappointment that LAMB isn't meeting the timeline they communicated to parents during the Open House, and apparently yesterday to the WAMU reporter at the lottery. It would be quite easy for them to put out a tweet that acknowledges the delay and gives folks information about when the list will be out. That's a pretty easy thing to do that would require minimal effort on their end. I think we would all benefit from being a bit kinder to one another and giving each other the benefit of the doubt. Yes, the DCPS school lottery isn't for another two weeks, but I'm not refreshing the DCPS website today because I know it's not coming for two more weeks. And just remember that for some, the stress of the pre-k3 and 4 lottery specifically isn't just about your kid getting into a good school, but also the very practical, financial question of how do I afford another year of daycare / nanny costs if they don't. Maybe extend a little extra kindness to others on the basis of that alone. Congratulations to the parents who got great news yesterday. I hope all your kids get in somewhere great.
Do you really want the answer? Last night was parent workshops (learning about Montessori, etc). Today is parent/teacher conference day, school is closed. People are busy. The school doesn't tweet. Just try to take one moment to look at things from the other perspective. The fact that they already called some of those who got in is a pretty big deal in terms of being on top of things. Also, this is an anonymous forum not known for kindness...look elsewhere for that...
