I fully expect violence against the economic and/or political elite within the next two years. Don't be surprised we start hearing about the murders of corporate execs, finance types, and lobbyist swamp creatures. It's only a matter of time - it hasn't happened in the US since the 1960s but we are quickly headed that way. Read about the Lead Years in Italy in the 1970s...very scary times ahead: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Years_of_Lead_(Italy)
The US is going to split apart like the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia unless we find another Lincoln.
I know it feels this way, but that's what Vladimir Putin is trying to foment. He wants the US to break into a civil war. That would benefit him. But, let's face it, the differences among red and blue states are mostly superficial. Trump is an extremely divisive leader who is exploiting the ignorance of the less educated and racist Americans to take sides against their own best interests believing, incorrectly, Trump's claims that "liberals" want to take their rights and money away. Stupid people fall for rhetoric, and that's what Trump has fed these people, winking all the while at the rich oligarchs who are getting richer under the Trump regime. (BTW, Do you know that Mitch McConnell is the richest man in the US Congress? He's among the 1% who will make a killing off this tax steal!!) It would be nice right about now to find another Lincoln, someone who can bring Americans together. I don't know who that person is, but sometimes a crisis like this Trumpean regime, brings out the very best in the very greatest people, and we may see a leader arise who can lead us out of this morass. The divide in the US is between rich and poor. Abortion, immigration, etc. are just smokescreens. Follow the money, and it leads to the rich, who are getting richer under Trump while the poor get poorer. Fascists always tell their followers that they are working in their followers' best interests, while at the same time working completely opposite their followers' interests. That's the Trump/GOP, Fascists all.
