So, I'm OP of this thread. Not some kind of operative. Just someone who lives in the area who is mad this person is one of the representatives for this region. Just to be 100% transparent, my mother lives in the Comstock district, and I live just outside. I still think it is reasonable for me to post a thread about this topic in a forum called "Metropolitan DC Local Politics." If someone wants to start a thread about another representative from VA or MD, they should do so. I'm amazed by the "arguments" Comstock supporters have put on this thread. Some examples: 1. You people are mean! She's a nice lady. Why are women being so mean to this nice lady who works hard? Nice has nothing to do with it. She has a clear voting record (and a clear record of campaign contributions). I am fundamentally opposed to the positions she reflects on her voting record, and I see a clear correlation between the groups who send her money, and her voting record. Declaring that I am against an elected official does not make me 'mean". If you want to be a supporter of Comstock, tell me why you think it's awesome she is one of the top receiver of money from gun lovers and does nothing to control guns, don't just tell me I'm mean. As for her being a "hard worker" I'm not making any claims about her work ethic, but if her "work" is supporting ideas I fundamentally disagree with, then I'm not going to support her! It's telling that, like Comstock, rather than actually speaking to people and articulating policies, you hide behind the idea that any criticism is unfair and she shouldn't have to deal with it. 2. No one cares, election a year away, why are you bringing it up? From the moment an elected official is sworn in, until the day their replacement is sworn in, they represent their district. It is the responsibility of citizens of a district to tell their representative how they think the representative should fulfill her/his duties. Comstock can decide to listen to constituents or not, and like any elected official, that could have implications for her when election time does roll around, but there is not some magic window that is the only time constituents should communicate their opinions.
