It did NOT get pitch black.  I know people in the path of totality.  They were not going crazy over what they saw - they expected more for making the trip (paying for airline tickets, etc.) [/quote]

We were in the path of totality and while it wasn't pitch black, it was very, very dark. The temperature dropped about 10 degrees and it was darker than twilight, for almost two full minutes.  It was truly incredible.  We met people who came here from Europe who said they'd never seen anything like it.  We feel so lucky we got to experience it.[/quote]
