I have a son who would love to become a teacher. My husband and I are torn about this. Of course we want him to pursue his dream and be happy but god forbid the women he meets don't think that he's worthy of being their husband. It's sad. They'd rather he sells his soul to the almighty dollar and bitch about how he's unhappy and resentful instead of joining with him to create a wonderful life together, doing what they love.
I'd be fine with dating or marrying a man who made less than me, as long as he was willing to take over more of the childcare and other domestic responsibilities. I never found that guy. Someone who earns less than me and still expects me to make all the lunches, dinners, pick up the house, fill out the camp forms for the kids, arrange the play dates, make sure there are presents for birthday parties etc. is NOT going to work for me. Several years, after my first husband died, I remarried a guy who made around the same amount as me and we split domestic stuff 50-50. It has worked out great.
