Axe felt so strongly that he needed Wendy that he lied to his wife about it.  Which means that he knew full well how she'd feel about it, but the need for Wendy was greater than his wife's wishes or maintaining her trust.  That's a pretty big deal in a marriage.

I can't see Taylor taking Wags' place because she's/he's/they're just not ruthless enough.  Might get there, but it can't replace the trust Axe has with Wags[/quote]
