It takes all stripes. Your kid is probably a dime a dozen in terms of what he/she brings to the table vs. someone else. Stop kidding yourself that high GPA/SAT is some kind of meal ticket to elite universities. As I'm sure you are finding out, that is not how US elite university admissions works, nor should it be.
