I completely support this. People need to follow rules and go through proper processes. this is for all of our safety and the safety of your children.
Law enforcement also needs to follow rules. What right do they have to ask someone to prove they are legally in this country? Don't you need something called probable cause? If you were just walking down the street, and a LEO stopped you, terri fisked you, then asked you to prove you were a citizen, what would you do? Could you prove you are a citizen? Who carries a passport with them? I'm a white male, do you think they would ask me? No, this type of enforcement does not make us safer. What it DOES do is undermine our Constitution. If you believe the Constitution says what it says, it says these right apply to people, not strictly to US citizens. Everyone within our borders as 4th Amendment rights, and LEOs are in the best position to violate these rights. These types of actions destroy our country, and if you support them, you are for destroying out country too.
Truthfully, I can say I have not idea if they need probable cause to ask such a question. And I don't think it's an outrageous question and I believe that if I was in a foreign country living and working as an American I would also expect to be asked a similar question.
