People will not invest. You are delusional.
Why so small minded an apocalyptic? Geez. Just look how excited people were about opening up Van Ness. I'm not sure that a Maury/Miner cluster would be all that different. It's frankly a very unattractive and close minded attitude. And anyway, I think a large percentage of our neighbors will end up going; it's not like we can pick up and move like that.
It's easy to love PreK - it's like free daycare. (That's because it's free daycare.) Even the worst DCPS (which is most, according to test scores) are overflowing with applicants for PreK. In my fashionable, outstandingly trendy, practically unaffordable neighborhood, there is only one DCPS in walking distance (the others were closed a few years back). Singles and young parents love it here. Once they reach school-age, anxiety sets in. The local DCPS is okay for pre-school, but if we can't lottery into a good charter, we move WEST. I know more than one family who rented out their cool and large rowhouse in Ward 5 to cram into something tiny but West of the Park. Good luck, Maury parents. it's an uphill battle to improve a school. You succeeded with Maury, and now you're going to be expected to do it with Miner.
It's fine. We're all in this together. We all enjoy living on the Hill and we can stay here as long as nobody panics.
