BIDEN chose to end Remain in Mexico and other Trump policies that drove and kept numbers down--and "welcomed" asylum seekers to "surge" to the border. Biden could reinstate Remain and Mexico and those policies without Congress--but will not.

That "conservative" bill is typical of cheap labor Republicans--but not what Trump nor most Americans want. They do NOT want higher levels of immigration. Some 3/4 of Americans have told Gallup and AP/NORC that. A recent Harvard CAPS Harris poll found

"Additionally, 68 percent of respondents said the administration should make it tougher to get into the United States illegally, and 32 percent said current border policies should remain."

You can claim that shutting down the border when illegal entries top 5,000 per day for a week and being required to reopen it when they drop below 3,750 per day is making it "tougher to get into the US illegally", but I wonder how many Americans would agree?
